Email showrecorder@ericdahl.dev with your device model, iOS or macOS version, your mixer or audio interface, and what happened. A screenshot helps.

Getting started

  • Connect your mixer's USB audio, or any USB audio interface, to your iPhone, iPad or Mac. On an iPhone or iPad with Lightning you need a camera adapter with power.
  • Open ShowRecorder. It arms the input and shows a meter for each channel.
  • Press the red button to record, the flag to add a Marker, and the red button again to stop.
  • To keep a second copy, choose a Drive folder in Settings (an SSD works best). Without one, Takes go to the device only.

Common questions

Where are my recordings?

Tap Shows on the record screen, or open the Files app: On My iPhone (or iPad), ShowRecorder, Shows. Each Show has a folder for each Take, with one WAV file per channel, a report and a Reaper project.

The channels are called "USB 01", "USB 02".

Enter your mixer's address in Settings to get its channel names and colors (Behringer X Air and Midas MR series), or tap Channel names to type them.

The Drive was unplugged during a Take.

Recording carries on to the device. When the Drive comes back it rejoins, and after the Take the missing stretch is filled in from the device copy.

Will a recording ever stop on its own?

Not because of a trial, a limit or a license: that is the Show-Safe Promise. It stops only if you stop it, or if every place it is writing to runs out of space.
